POLITICS in the PUB

Welfare in Australia:  What’s a fair go?

Australia has one of the most comprehensive social security systems in the world.
Join us and a panel of experts to discuss your thoughts on whether this welfare system is doing too much or not enough.

Is it affordable?
Is it possible to live on as little as $35 per day?
How does the public debate shape our view of welfare recipients?
Do we actually need a welfare system?

Proudly brought to you by the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre and the Welfare Rights Centre, this event will focus on the current state of welfare, what constitutes a ‘fair go’ for all, and what the future of welfare in Australia could look like.

Now in its 13th year, Politics in the Pub is a free, all-ages community forum that aims to unearth and discuss local, national and international issues from a wide range of viewpoints.  Held at the Brisbane Powerhouse, these events facilitate discussions on the issues that are important to our local community.

Wednesday 10th July – 6pm – 7.30pm

Brisbane Powerhouse, Turbine Platform

COST = FREE
