TAAS

TAAS is based at New Farm Neighbourhood Centre. The service provides free advice, advocacy and housing referral services to tenants.The TAAS workers can assist people with bond loan information, applying for public and community housing, conciliation and Small Claims Tribunal matters. You can use the phone, daily papers and the internet to assist in your accommodation searches.

The service also provides education (talks, articles, etc.) on tenancy law for community groups and works towards better laws and housing services for tenants.

Project TAAS has funding to provide residents of boarding houses, hostels and private aged care accommodation with a specialised service. The project worker provides advice, advocacy, community education and housing referral service to residents. The Residential Services Project is also involved in helping people if a boarding house closes.

This service is a tenant only service funded through interest earned on tenants’ bond monies held with the Residential Tenancies Authority with some additional funding from the Department of Housing. Funding is administered by the Department of Housing.
